My mother was born in Bulkington nr Devizes. I've never been able to locate any information on the history of Bulkington or the pub in which she was born and lived in as a child. Do you have any information on the hamlet and/or the pub? I know the pub was called the Bell Inn and has since been changed.

I'm afraid that there is not a great deal of material on Bulkington, which until the 1880s was a tithing of Keevil. It then became a civil parish and has had its own church since 1860. There are two sources that you could request through you local library;
he Victoria History of Wiltshire, Vol. 8. OUP, 1965 contains an article on Keevil and Bulkington on pages 250 - 263. We could supply a photocopy of this for £1.50.
Annals of Keevil and Bulkington, by A.T. Richardson. Typescript of 1914.
We have nothing on the Bell Inn other than the fact that John Northcote was landlord in the 1920s and 1930s while by 1947 H. Northcote was the landlord.
