I am tracing through my family history and have come up with a number of references to Cliffandy, mainly in the early 1800s. Could you enlighten me as to its whereabouts, and what happened to it.

I think that 'Cliffandy' is Clevancy. The name was written as Cleeve Ansty or Cleeve Ancey in 1726 and as Clifwancy at an earlier date. It is a name that is likely to have many spellings when the writer has only encountered it spoken in Wiltshire dialect.
