Answer
Trowbridge Town football Club was formed in 1880 and played their first match, against Bradford on Avon, at the top of Timbrell Street. They eventually joined the Western League and played on the Flower Show Field, now the Stallard Recreation Ground. On 10th October 1923 a new ground was opened in Bythesea Road, now the site of County Hall, with a new stand that was later moved to the Frome Road ground in 1934.

The team remained one of the top teams in the Western League and eventually became members of the Southern League for the 1958/9 season. They enjoyed success in this league and also won the Wiltshire Professional Shield on several occasions. They were promoted into the Alliance, now the Conference, League and remained there for 3 seasons before being relegated to the Southern, or Doc Marten's, League. About 6 years ago their financial difficulties were such that the club closed down and their Frome Road ground is now being developed for housing. The club was re-formed and now plays at Woodmarsh, North Bradley, in the Wiltshire League Premier Division.
