The Salisbury Journal for June 28th 1830 carried an advertisement for a private school for girls. It says: 'Mrs. Bidwell's Boarding School for Young Ladies (and gentlemen under eight) will open on Monday, 12th July 1830.
Board and tuition for 4-10 years of age. £12.0s.0d per annum.
Above ten years £16.0s.0d .
