There were two day schools in the 19th century. Half the cost of the children's education was met by the vicar and the other half through parent subscriptions.
One of these schools looked after 15 girls and the other for 14 boys and girls.
There was also a Sunday School which was started in 1828. Two years later it was attended by 35 boys and 25 girls.
