The very first school in Newton Tony was recorded as existing in 1808. 22 pupils attended one, which may have been the same school in 1818. In 1833 there were three schools with 27 pupils between them and by 1846 there were two and 38 children attended, as well as a Sunday school which had 31 pupils.
