Early Schools, Heddington

The history of education in Heddington has not been well documented and the first mention of a school in the parish was in 1818, when there was a dame school; an elementary fee paying school ran by a mistress. There were only 10 pupils at this time.
A day school opened in 1829 and by 1833, 35 children were attending.
