In 1833 two day-schools were in existence: The first of these was supported by parental subscription and had opened in 1826; in 1833 it was attended by 26 pupils. The second school at this date was funded by a private individual, a lady, and was attended by 32 children. A Sunday School in 1833 was held in the glebe-house at Nunton and in 1846 the building was converted for use as an elementary school, to become the Nunton National School.
