HM Inspector William Warburton, in his Account of Wiltshire Schools, reported that in 1858, 30 to 40 children were taught by an elderly woman in a “dissenting school”. The schoolroom was described as “neat, red-brick” and as forming part of Zion Chapel. The location of this building is not known.
