Early Schools, Manningford Bruce

In 1808 the parish had two charity schools with around 40 pupils. By 1818, two private schools were each attended by around 40 pupils. Two smaller schools, one with 18 pupils the second with eight children also existed. Pupils included children from Manningford Abbots. By 1833 Manningford Abbots had a village school, so the numbers at Manningford Bruce were about 30, the day school was funded by public subscription, each child paying a small fee.
