In 1835 there was an infants’ school with two boys and nine girls attending with fees paid by their parents. In 1858 at Wedhampton, there was a dame employed to teach 10-20 little children, in a good large room, with a wooden floor, in a cottage. The mistress was said to be an intelligent person but arithmetic was not taught.
