In 1818 24 pupils attended two Dame Schools in Fonthill Gifford parish, but by 1833 a day school had only 10 pupils. At this date many children from Fonthill Gifford attended school in Tisbury. At the same date there was also a boarding school for 63 boys and 33 girls and a Congregational Sunday School attended by 12 boys and 18 girls.
