Fox's Charity School, Melksham

Established by the Rev. Bohun Fox, the vicar from 1697 to 1750, who started a school for the education of poor boys and left an endowment to pay a schoolmaster. It is not known that he built a schoolroom, or where the boys were educated. In 1818 it was the only day school in the town but only six children attended it. The last schoolmaster died in 1829.
