Calne County School, Calne

Formed in 1901 by the amalgamation of Bentley's Free School and Calne Technical School as a school of science for boys aged 9-17. Girls were admitted from 1903 but up until 1909 were accommodated in a former silk mill and orphanage on the northern side of the Green. By 1907 the school was known as the Calne County Secondary School after it was taken over by Wiltshire County Council as the local education authority.
