National School for Girls, Calne

Built on the Green on a site between the National School for Boys and Bentley's Free School from 1828. There were 96 pupils in 1836 and this rose to 124 by 1846. In the later part of the 19th century the school averaged between 70 and 80 pupils and there were around 80 in the 1920s. In 1930 this school merged with the National School for Boys to form Calne Junior School.
