This new primary school opened in the old grammar school buildings in Tetbury Hill in 1964. It took pupils from both the boys' and girls' Church of England schools at Westport and the Cross Hayes; those schools then closed. A new school was built on the site in 1983 and by 1988 there were 290 pupils. This had increased to 397 in 2000.
