This opened in 1946, in huts on Marlborough Common, to serve the town and the villages of the upper Kennet valley. In 1966 they moved to a purpose built school in Chopping Knife Lane to the south east of the town. In 1975 the school amalgamated with Marlborough Grammar School to form St. John's Comprehensive School on two sites. The Secondary Modern School became the Savernake Building of the new school.
