In 1938 it was decided to relieve the pressure on the Highbury Avenue School by providing a new junior and infants school for 250 children. A six acre site on the Devizes Road was bought and the school completed in 1940 with 2 junior and 2 infant classrooms and 2 halls. By 1955 there were 307 pupils and an extension was needed. Under the Salisbury re-organization of local education in 1972 this school became a new middle school for children aged from 9 to 13 years. Further extensions were made to accommodate this transition. The school has an excellent situation, looking out over open country to Old Sarum and beyond. In 2002 there were 186 pupils.
