West Harnham School, Salisbury

By 1859 a mistress was running a school for 30 children in a wayside cottage at West Harnham. In 1863 a permanent school building was erected, in union with the National Society, at the junction of Lower Road and Netherhampton Road. This provided accommodation for 44 pupils and in 1904 it became part of the city of Salisbury. In 1928 the junior children were transferred to East Harnham school and West Harnham became a school for infants only. During its existance attendances never rose above 50 and the school closed in 1931 when the infants moved to East Harnham school. The school and teacher's house were sold in 1951.
