This is first mentioned in an 1895 directory as being at 89 and 91 London Road with the Misses Martha and Louie Addenbrooke as Principals. By 1899 they were assisted by 'efficient certified governesses and professors'. They also offered 'a separate bed for every resident', which had not always been the case in some earlier 19th century schools. The school seems to have specialized in music and prepared pupils for Oxford Local, Royal Academy of Music, Trinity College (Music), South Kensington and London Matriculation examinations.By 1920 the Misses Addenbrooke had left the school and it later became the High School for Girls, under which entry further information can be found.
