The Misses Edmunds are mentioned as keeping a school in Endless Street in the 1867 and 1875 directories and by 1880 a school, described as 'late Miss Saunders' is advertised by the Misses Phoebe and Annie Edmunds as the Ladies Collegiate School. Fees were from £80 to £100 per year and in 1880 the terms began on 20th January, 20th April and 1st September. They said they followed the best elements of the English and continental systems of education and modern languages were taught by foreign certified mistresses. Masters attended for vocal and instrumental music, drawing, painting and calisthenics. Subjects taught in classes were, Holy Scripture, English, French and German languages, history, geography, arithmetic and elements of natural science. There would be extra classes as needed for Latin, Italian, mathematics, theory of music and needlework. The school is not mentioned in directories from 1885 or later.
