A school was built on the Salisbury - Woodford road in 1840 with the aid of a government grant and was united with the National Society in 1847. In 1858 between 20 and 30 boys and girls were being taught in 'a fair room with a boarded floor and wall desks by an uncertificated mistress with one leg'. A 'singing' school was being held three times a week in winter, taken by a man from the cathedral. Attendances were fairly constant in the last four decades of the 19th century - 42 in 1866, 34 in 1886, and 45 in 1896. The school was enlarged in 1906 and rebuilt around 1913. In 1929 the senior children (11 and over) were transferred to secondary schools in Salisbury and the school became a junior school. The average attendance in 1937 was 58. Controlled status was gained in 1944. In 2002 the school had 123 pupils aged from 4 to 11 years.
