This was originally opened in a galvanised iron schoolroom erected in the garden of the High Street house of the Misses Florence and Jessie Lovett. By 1899 the principals of the private school were the Misses Lovett and Maslen and by 1911 the address given is Danvers House. In 1920 the school was advertising that it also had a class for small boys and in 1923 the school was advertised as the Danvers House Private Boarding School for Girls, with a preparatory class for small boys. The principals were Miss Emily Jessie Lovett and Miss Eleanor Maslen. The school closed between 1931 and 1935.
