In the late 18th century there was a boarding school at Bridzor, below Wardour Castle. The fees were £18 a year and the children were taught reading, writing, and accounts, while the fees also paid for their food, lodging, washing, mending, etc. Children between the ages of 6 and 11 years were educated and although it began as a mixed school, from 1791 it only took boys. Later on day pupils were also taken but the school had ceased by 1862 when the present Wardour Roman Catholic Primary School was opened.
