Corston School, St. Paul Malmesbury Without

The school existed by 1848 and was supported by Sir Richard Hungerford Pollen of Rodbourne House. In 1858 there were said to be two dame schools in Corston with a total of 20 pupils. They were 'of the humblest class in cottages'. One was looked after by the managers of Rodbourne School, presumably this was the one supported by Sir Richard. In 1872 Rodbourne School was extended to serve both villages and the schools, if both still existed by then, in Corston were closed.
