Quakers, Brinkworth

The Quaker society consisted mainly of the chief members of the Edwards, Reynolds, Scull and Young Families between 1661 and 1752; around this time the Quakers held meetings in Anthony Edwards' barn, before moving to a certified meeting house in 1690. It is possible the group may have had a burial ground at Brinkworth until 1734 or later.

Quaker numbers declined in the mid-eighteenth century and in 1752 the Brinkworth representative stopped attending the Chippenham monthly meetings.
