The piece was very popular It is a hunting song and one of the best of its kind: one needs but little judgement to discover its superiority above the more modern song, 'We'll all go a-hunting today'. This version was well known at Cricklade where I obtained the words of the late Wassail Harvey and Mr Phoenix Giles.'
