Jane Hobbs, with her two profoundly disabled children, described in different census returns as imbecile and then paralysed from birth, must have had a hard life before the death of her first husband, Francis in 1896. She married William Ockwell, a resident of Poulton, who was living with his parents in 1901 at the age of 36, in 1902. He died in 1907, though his age at death does not quite match the census data.
