There were several small schools in the parish in 1783. In 1818 there were 3 schools in which 46 children (22 from South Tidworth) were taught. By 1833 there was only one school with 12 children, but by 1846 there were two, one with 71 pupils and the other with only 9. In 1859 there was only one school in North Tidworth, where between 5 and 10 children were taught by an old woman in a cottage, but 40 children from the parish attended the joint school in South Tidworth that had been provided by the Assheton Smith family.
