The school was opened in 1962 as a Junior and Infants' school and children from North Tidworth, who had previously attended school in South Tidworth, were transferred to the new school. The school opened for pupils on 9th January 1962 and was officially opened on 12th April by Lt. General Sir R.N.H.C. Bray, G.O.G.-in-C. Southern Command. The school was built for 320 pupils and cost £64,731. A further £10,624 was spent between 1963 and 1966 on additional classrooms. It became solely a Junior School in April 1964 when the Clarendon Infants School was opened. In 1990 there were 228 children at the school and in 2002 there were 216. Most of the children are there for only short periods while their families are stationed in Tidworth.
