Williams, Alfred: Ms / WGS: 'Obtained of Thomas Baughan, South Cerney. The song was a favourite of his father's and of his grandfather's who bought on a broadside at Cirencester Mop, where it was sung at least as early as 1793. I know nothing more concerning it having heard it nowhere else.'
