Williams, Alfred: Ms / WGS: 'Obtained of Richard Gardner of Hardwick, near Witney, Oxfordshire. Gardner is an old carter, and a most cheerful and vivacious man. Though of the advanced age of eighty three he goes daily to work on the land and is capable of rendering at least a dozen lengthy songs.'
